Safeguarding Curriculum

  • Safeguarding Curriculum

Safeguarding our children is of paramount importance at Locks Heath Junior School. Staff training, safe recruitment practices and whistleblowing all contribute to our safeguarding culture but this only works alongside a curriculum that considers how we teach children about keeping themselves safe in a wider sense. These two areas work together at Locks Heath Juniors to give children a safe environment in which to learn as well as teaches them about how to keep themselves safe.

  • Clever Never Goes CLEVER NEVER GOES is the new campaign that teaches children how to stay safe from abduction whether they are outside or online. It’s the modern, child-friendly alternative to the out-dated and fundamentally flawed ‘Stranger Danger’ message. Rather than fearing the worst in everyone they don’t know, Clever Never Goes helps children to recognise specific situations that are unsafe and gives them the tools to respond. Our aim is for every primary school child to be taught Clever Never Goes. Already over 2,000 schools have downloaded our free lesson packs, and it is already working to keep children safe.
  • Jigsaw PSHE Jigsaw, the mindful approach to PSHE (Personal, Social, Health Education), systematically develops children’s inner worlds, empowering them as unique individuals enjoying positive relationships with self and others, and thereby becoming self-regulating effective learners with agency.
  • NSPCC - Support for Parents There's no such thing as a perfect parent. One day all's calm, the next it's chaos. However it's going, we're here with advice and support for parents and carers.
  • Common Sense Education - E-safety for Families For kids, digital life is real life. It's where they build friendships, take a stand on issues, and do so much more. Encourage kids and their families to reflect on their media habits and build digital citizenship skills with this collection of articles, videos, printable handouts, conversation starters, ready-made workshops, and more.
