‘Where Children Come First’

Our Library

Bookmark Competition Information

Nick Sharratt has kindly judged our wonderful Bookmark Competition.  He was very impressed with all our children's designs. He has picked 6 winners. Three from Lower School and three from Upper School. The winning bookmarks are pictured above.

I will be displaying all the children's bookmarks here very soon, watch this space!

Well done to everyone who took part and of course to our winners.

Also I would like to thank Nick Sharratt for agreeing to judge our competition and for the wonderful video clips too.  Lots of children are really looking forward to meeting you at some point in the future.  Thank you again from everyone at Locks Heath Juniors.

‘A reading child is, quite simply, a successful child’

    Alan Gibbons (children’s author)

At Locks Heath Junior School we want to instil in our children a love of Reading. A part of this is having a well stocked school library, where we aim to have something for everyone – exciting fiction, including popular authors and new writers, across many different genres, and a wide range of non-fiction.

Each class has a library slot each week, when the children can browse the books on the shelves and change their library books. There are also other opportunities across the week when children can visit the library.  Mrs Puddicombe, the Librarian, is in school if the children have any questions or if there are particular books they are looking for.

We have made links with The Book Shop in Lee-on-the-Solent.  We hope to host a pop up book stall in the playground as soon as restrictions allow.  We earn commission on all sales through the bookshop.  We are very grateful to parents for their support – this is important to enable us to maintain our stock.

Here is the link to this wonderful shop.  Sarah is always happy to help with requests.

The Book Shop also has a youtube channel, here is the link.
