‘Where Children Come First’

Our Library

Bookmark Competition Information

We are delighted that Nick Sharratt has agreed to be part of the judging process for our wonderful Bookmark Competition.  He is really looking forward to seeing the children's creations. There will be a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place bookmark for Upper and Lower schools.  The 6  winning bookmarks will be printed.  Sarah at The Book Shop in Lee-on-the-Solent has kindly offered to buy copies of our winning bookmarks and give them out in her fabulous, independent bookshop.

Once you have completed your bookmark hand them to Mrs Puddicombe during your weekly library slot.

Make sure your first name and class are written clearly on the back before handing it in.

Please can you make sure tha your bookmark does not have any collage or raised items on it.

Don't forget the closing date and time is 3pm on Monday the 15th of March.  Winners will be announced on Friday the 19th of March.

Good luck and Happy Designing from Nick Sharratt and Mrs Puddicombe

Locks Heath Junior School Book Trail Information

‘A reading child is, quite simply, a successful child’

    Alan Gibbons (children’s author)

At Locks Heath Junior School we want to instil in our children a love of Reading. A part of this is having a well stocked school library, where we aim to have something for everyone – exciting fiction, including popular authors and new writers, across many different genres, and a wide range of non-fiction.

Each class has a library slot each week, when the children can browse the books on the shelves and change their library books. There are also other opportunities across the week when children can visit the library.  Mrs Puddicombe, the Librarian, is in school if the children have any questions or if there are particular books they are looking for.

We have made links with The Book Shop in Lee-on-the-Solent.  We hope to host a pop up book stall in the playground as soon as restrictions allow.  We earn commission on all sales through the bookshop.  We are very grateful to parents for their support – this is important to enable us to maintain our stock.

Here is the link to this wonderful shop.  Sarah is always happy to help with requests.

The Book Shop also has a youtube channel, here is the link.
