Our Library
‘A reading child is, quite simply, a successful child’
Alan Gibbons (children’s author)
At Locks Heath Junior School we want to instil in our children a love of Reading. A part of this is having a well stocked school library, where we aim to have something for everyone – exciting fiction, including popular authors and new writers, across many different genres, and a wide range of non-fiction.
Each class has a library slot each week, when the children can browse the books on the shelves and change their library books. There are also other opportunities across the week when children can visit the library. Mrs Puddicombe, the Librarian, is in school if the children have any questions or if there are particular books they are looking for.
We have made links with The Book Shop in Lee-on-the-Solent. We hope to host a pop up book stall in the playground as soon as restrictions allow. We earn commission on all sales through the bookshop. We are very grateful to parents for their support – this is important to enable us to maintain our stock.
Here is the link to this wonderful shop. Sarah is always happy to help with requests.

In December Year 3 took part in a draw-along online with Nick Sharratt. It was a wonderful experience and the children were inspired. Their drawings were very impressive. Here are a few for you to take a look at. We are all looking forward to welcoming Nick to our school in person.
