‘A reading child is, quite simply, a successful child’
Alan Gibbons (children’s author)
At Locks Heath Junior School we want to instil in our children a love of Reading. A part of this is having a well stocked school library, where we aim to have something for everyone – exciting fiction, including popular authors and new writers, across many different genres, and a wide range of non-fiction.
Each class has a library slot each week, when the children can browse the books on the shelves and change their library books. There are also other opportunities across the week when children can visit the library. Mrs Kaye, the Librarian, is in school every morning if the children have any questions or if there are particular books they are looking for.
We hold three book fairs every year – one per term. The commission generated by these events helps us to buy new books to replace lost and damaged ones and to purchase new titles. We are very grateful to parents for their support with the book fairs – this is important to enable us to maintain our stock.
