Yesterday afternoon, our determined and brave young athletes faced our greatest endurance test of the year …..THE BIATHLON!
Competitors swam six lengths of the school pool, raced away to get changed in a 5 minute slot before running to the start line of their three lap run – which equates to about 1km.
The biathlon had a fantastic turn out and it was brilliant to see so many children taking on such a sporting challenge. I know that many achieved personal bests, and for some it was the first time they had felt brave enough to attempt the course. Throughout the whole afternoon, children were supporting each other with words of encouragement, cheering and clapping – the team spirit was amazing.
Times were collated and our presentation ceremony at the end of the day celebrated those children who achieved the quickest combined times. A huge well done to Toby for swimming 6 lengths in 1minute 15 seconds and another huge well done to Daisy for achieving a combined time of 4 minutes and 41 seconds. Olympic athletes need to watch out….Locks Heath are on their way!
