On Thursday and Friday last week, Year 3 had a brilliant time learning what it was like to live during the Iron Age.
Iron Age Matt came to school and led workshop activities with all of the children in Year 3. On the first day, the children learnt how Iron Age tribes organised themselves, how they cooked, slept, dressed and built their houses. They also had a go at grinding their own flour using a quern stone. The children also made their own Iron Age shields and spear tips.
On the second day, the children took part in some exciting warrior training where they learnt how to throw javelins, use spears and fight with wooden swords. They were amazed to learn that children their own age would have been trained to join in the fighting to defend their tribes!
