‘Where Children Come First’

Role of PTA

The Friends raise thousands of pounds each year through organising various activities and events for both the children and adults. These include the annual Summer Fayre (our biggest fundraising event of the year), swim-a-thons, Quiz Nights, Film Nights and Christmas sales through to simple playground cake sales.

 

The money raised is used to provide extras for the children such as equipment and resources which would not otherwise be available within the school budget, to enhance our children’s education and enjoyment of school. Very often the children themselves will decide what to spend the money on through the School Council.

 

In recent years this has included funding new Netbook computers for use throughout each year group, funding the purchase of a new audio visual system in the school hall, providing money for new books and also for theatre companies to perform for the children as a treat.

 

The Friends also support the staff by helping with other school events, for example providing refreshments for parent meetings, Sports Day, the Fun Run and the Year 6 Leavers Disco, and providing extra people to help out with the Year 5 & 6 Biathlon.
